5.26.2010 | Women's Lacrosse
Gaffney, S.C. – Three Limestone College women’s lacrosse players have been named to the IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association) Division II All-American Team.
Representing the Lady Saints on the First-Team is Katie Ilott (Brooklyn, Ontario/D. Wilson Secondary School)   while fellow senior Renee Albro (Purceville, VA/Loudon Valley HS) and junior Erin Growney (Rochester, N.Y./East Rochester HS) garnered Second-Team honors. The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor these three and the other National All-Americans at the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American banquet on June 12, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.

Gaffney, S.C. – Four Limestone College women’s lacrosse players have been named to the IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association) Division II All-South Region Team.

West Chester, Pa. - No.3 Limestone suffered a heartbreaking, 12-11, loss at No.5 West Chester on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the 2010 NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championships. The home standing Lady Rams scored the game winning goal with only-:02 left in regulation on a free position shot. Limestone finishes its season 18-2, both setbacks by one goal with the other top-ranked Lock Haven which will face West Chester (18-1) in the semifinals.

GAFFNEY, S.C.—Limestone College is accepting nominations for the Athletics Hall of Fame from alumni and friends of Saints athletics. The Limestone College Athletic Hall of Fame honors individuals whose athletic achievements or services have enriched the Saints athletic programs or brought fame to the College. It recognizes and provides an enduring memorial for those persons who have made lasting and significant contributions to the cause of sports at Limestone College.

GAFFNEY, S.C.— The No. 5-ranked Limestone College women’s lacrosse team used a 12-2 first-half scoring margin to defeat Rollins College 19-12 on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field. The Tars fall to 9-5 overall as Limestone improves to 18-1 this season.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The No. 4-ranked Limestone College women’s lacrosse team claimed the Conference Carolinas tournament title with a 14-7 win over #2-seeded Belmont Abbey on Sunday afternoon at the Queens University Sports Complex. The championship is #1-seeded Saints’ fourth title in the last five years. Limestone’s record improves to 17-1 as the Crusaders fall to 7-9.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The No. 4-ranked Limestone College women’s lacrosse team flew past the Pfeiffer University Falcons 21-9 in the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas women’s lacrosse tournament on Saturday. Limestone, the tournament’s #1 seed, betters its record to 16-1 overall and will play #2-seeded Belmont Abbey tomorrow in the championship match at 1 p.m. The #4-seeded Falcons fall to 11-7 overall.

HIGH POINT, N.C.—The Limestone College women’s lacrosse team had six players earn All-Conference Carolinas honors, as released by the league on Thursday. Katie Ilott (Brooklin, Ontario, Canada) was named Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference as five more players garnered All-League honors.

The Limestone College women’s lacrosse team will compete in the Conference Carolinas Tournament on Saturday and Sunday at the Queens University of Charlotte Sports Complete at Marion Diehl Park. The Saints are looking to claim their fourth conference tournament title, having won the tournament in 2006, 2008, and 2009.

GAFFNEY, S.C.—The No. 4-ranked Limestone College women’s lacrosse team rolled to a 23-4 victory over St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Conference Carolinas action on Sunday at Saints Field. Limestone, who earned the 2010 league regular season title and the #1 seed in the upcoming Conference Carolinas tournament, improves to 14-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play. The Knights fall to 5-8 on the season and 3-4 in the league.

GAFFNEY, S.C.—No. 4-ranked Limestone College crushed Converse College in Conference Carolinas women’s lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon 20-5. The Saints stand at 14-1 overall and 6-0 in the league as the Valkyries fall to 5-10 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
