GAFFNEY, S.C.—Limestone College is accepting nominations for the Athletics Hall of Fame from alumni and friends of Saints athletics. The Limestone College Athletic Hall of Fame honors individuals whose athletic achievements or services have enriched the Saints athletic programs or brought fame to the College. It recognizes and provides an enduring memorial for those persons who have made lasting and significant contributions to the cause of sports at Limestone College.

Limestone College men’s soccer player Ali Benson (Hull, England) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America 2009 Academic All-District Team. The award is part of the Academic All-America Teams program presented by ESPN The Magazine.

Former Limestone midfielder Sean Boyle is having great success in the soccer leagues of Ireland. After joining the Salthill Devon Futbol Club midway through last season, Boyle helped the team climb from the amateur “A” Championship level to the First Division. Though the club will remain an amateur team for the upcoming season, the team will look to turn professional in the near future, which would make Boyle the first Saint alumnus to play professional soccer.

GAFFNEY, S.C.— Limestone College seniors Ali Benson (Hull, England) and Dominic Casciato (Kent, England) earned First-Team Scholar All-South Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Casciato posted a 3.77 grade point average as Benson had a GPA of 3.33.

The Limestone College men’s soccer team was awarded the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2008-09, as announced by the NSCAA this week. The Saints posted a team grade point average of 3.20 last year to earn the award. This is the second straight year Limestone has received this recognition, and the Saints are the only team in the NCAA Division II Southeast region to make the list this year.
