NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Limestone College Head Softball Coach Jimmy Martin was presented with the Easton Victory Club Award last week at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s National Convention. The award recognizes coaches that have earned at least 500 wins during their career. Martin currently posts a career record of 523-522.
The 2009-10 season marks will be Martin’s 20th at the helm of the Lady Saints softball program. Last season, he was named Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year as he led the Limestone to the Conference Carolinas regular season championship with a 12-4 league record. The squad posted a 27-26 record overall.
Coach Martin has had several very successful years at the helm of the program, reaching 30 or more wins five times since taking over the program, and posting a winning percentage over .600 five times as well. He has had many players rank nationally in individual stat categories and many of his teams achieved national rankings in team categories. His most notable mark in the national ranking is from 2005, when his Saints hit eight homeruns in one game, which still holds a share of the NCAA Division II record.
Martin also serves as the Associate Athletics Director for Facilities at Limestone.
