GAFFNEY, S.C.—The members of the 2009 Limestone College Conference Carolinas Regular Season Championship softball team received their championship rings in a ceremony last week. Limestone claimed the title after posting a 12-4 league record last spring.

“The ceremony was a great way for all of us to get together and enjoy the results of our hard work last season and to present our staff and players with something to show that hard work and dedication pays off,” pointed out Limestone Head Coach Jimmy Martin. “Our players learned what it takes to overcome adversity and a rough start to a season and become champions and to produce something to look back on and be proud of.”

“We were glad to have the chance to extend a sincere ‘thank you’ to Dr. Griffin and Coach Cerino who provide us with the opportunity to perform and to succeed each and every year,” Martin continued. “We would also like to thank to Lora Huddleston and Curt Lamb for keeping our girls at the peak of their performance during a long and tough season.”

Players from the 2009 team who were in attendance to receive their rings included Chelsea Anthony, Danielle Bush, Kayla Hamalainen, Brittany Maroney, Kristy Witten, Madison Carpenter, Felicia Fritz, Hannah Mills, Emily Wallace, Jenna Guse, Kelsey Kuykendall, Mallory Kuykendall, and Jordan Smith. In addition to Martin and assistant coaches Amy Yates and Donnie Elliott, athletic trainer Lora Huddleston and strength and conditioning coach Curt Lamb were also there. Limestone’s three seniors from the spring, Christina Woolgar, Lauren Robertson, and Jordan Goodman, were unable to attend.
