LIMESTONE MEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS PFEIFFER IN CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS

SUMTER, S.C.—The Limestone College men’s tennis team defeated #6-seeded Pfeiffer University 5-1 in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas tournament on Friday afternoon. The Saints’ record climbs to 11-5 overall. Limestone, the #3 seed, will play #2 Anderson tomorrow in the tournament semifinals at 9 a.m.
Limestone claimed the top two doubles flights. Thomas Ollivier (Caen, France) and Phillippe Hogan (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) defeated their opponents 8-4 at the No. 1 slot. Christian Warnholtz (Queretaro, Mexico) and Henrik Nordquist (Danderyd, Stockholm, Sweden) won at No. 2, 8-6. Paulo Avila (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Miguel Lopez Zuniga (Guanajuato, Mexico) lost at the No. 3 flight, 8-5.
After gaining a 2-1 advantage in the doubles competition, Limestone won three of the singles matches for the 5-1 victory. Nordquist defeated A.J. Flores at the No. 4 spot (6-4, 6-4). Avila won at No. 5 as he beat Frank Pouchet (6-4, 6-0). Warnholtz defeated Cody Simpson (6-2, 6-0) at No. 6.
The Conference Carolinas tennis tournament is hosted by Erskine College.
