LADY SAINTS TENNIS FALLS IN TOURNAMENT SEMIFINALS

SUMTER, S.C.—The Limestone College Lady Saints suffered a 5-1 loss to Mount Olive College on Saturday in the Conference Carolinas tournament semifinals. The #5-seeded Lady Saints’ record stands at 9-9 overall. Mount Olive, the #1 seed, advances to play #3 Erskine in the championship contest. Limestone moves to the consolation bracket where it will face #2 Lees-McRae. The winner of that match will finish third in the competition.
Limestone’s lone win came at the No. 2 doubles flight as Dunja Drmac (Split, Croatia) and Jimena Munoz Quiroga (La Candelaria, Coyoacan, Mexico) defeated their opponents 8-5. Mount Olive won the No. 1 doubles match 8-4, and got an 8-0 win at No. 3.
Only three singles matches were played. The Trojans’ Jessica Souza beat Jen Snaider (Asuncion, Paraguay) in two sets (6-4, 6-2) at No. 2. At the No. 5 flight, Bridget Knowles (Hendersonville, NC) lost to Pietra Viana (6-3, 6-0), and Courtney Guerrieri (Union, SC) lost to Kristen Jones at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0).
The Conference Carolinas tennis tournament is hosted by Erskine College.
