LIMESTONE FINISHES 3RD AT CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

SUMTER, S.C.—The Limestone College men’s tennis team finished third in the Conference Carolinas tournament after a 5-0 win over Barton College in the consolation round on Sunday. The #3-seeded Saints improve to 12-6 overall with the win.
#2 Anderson won the tournament with a 5-1 victory over #1 Lees-McRae.
Phillippe Hogan (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) and Thomas Ollivier (Caen, France) picked up an 8-1 win at the No. 1 doubles flight, while Henrik Nordquist (Danderyd, Stockholm, Sweden) and Christian Warnholtz (Queretaro, Mexico) won at No. 2, 8-5. Miguel Lopez Zuniga (Guanajuato, Mexico) and Paulo Avila (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) defeated their opponents 8-3 at the No. 3 seed.
Limestone only had to win two singles matches to get the victory after sweeping the doubles competition. Avila defeated Eduardo Stefani in two sets at No. 5 (6-0, 6-3). Warnholtz was credited with the win at No. 6 by default.
