HIGH POINT, N.C.—Limestone College’s Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.) was chosen as the 2008-09 Conference Carolinas Female Sportsmanship Award winner. Each year, the conference receives nominations from member institutions, and the conference Senior Woman Administrators review the nominees and select one female and one male student-athlete. Anderson’s Anthony DiCarlo was the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award on the men’s side.
Wise, a 2009 graduate of Limestone, was a four-year member of the women’s lacrosse team. She was known for having a great attitude on and off of the field. Wise served as President for Limestone’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She was the guiding force in Limestone’s first annual Sports Night sponsored by SAAC. During the inaugural event, Wise organized her fellow SAAC members into committees to promote and manage the event. She also wrote Limestone’s sportsmanship pledge, and personally asked those attending “80’s Night” to sign the pledge that now hangs in the lobby of the Timken Center gym.
Wise was also the recipient of the 2008-09 Tom Pettit Sportsmanship Award which is given to the student-athlete who best represents Limestone athletics in a sportsmanlike manner during competition.
Wise and DiCarlo will be nominated for the NCAA Sportsmanship Award.
