Former Saint pitcher Kevin Pucetas will represent the Fresno Grizzlies on the Pacific Coast League All-Star Team. Pucetas, a standout for the Triple-A Grizzlies, will play in the game on July 15 at 7:05 p.m. at PGE Park in Portland, Ore. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 2.
The PCL All-Star squad consists of13 players who received the most votes from the league’s field managers and general managers, members of the media, and online fan voting. Fifteen more players were selected by the league office.
Pucetas currently boasts a 3.17 ERA and is at the top of the league with an 8-2 record in his 16 appearances. He has struck out 56 batters in 96.2 innings pitched. This is the third minor league all-star game appearance for Pucetas.
Pucetas, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 17th round of the 2006 First Year Player Draft. During his time with the Saints from 2002-03 through 2005-06, he was named the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference’s 2006 Pitcher of the Year and was a two-time All-Conference honoree. He also garnered American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region honors in 2005.
