Limestone College assistant baseball coach Mike Ranson and former Saint Ryan McKenzie helped the Forest City Owls win the Coastal Plain League Pettit Cup Championship. The Owls defeated the Peninsula Pilots in the CPL Championship Series 5-1 to claim the title.

Ranson and McKenzie, a 2009 graduate of Limestone and a two-year member of the baseball team, are assistant coaches for Forest City. Matt Hayes, a former assistant coach for the Saints, serves as the Owls’ head coach.

Forest City, the number one ranked summer collegiate baseball team in the country by Perfect Game Crosschecker, is expected to become the first CPL team in history to win a national title when the final poll of the summer is announced next week. The Owls had an outstanding season as the team posted a 51-9 overall record.
