NEWBERRY, S.C.—The Limestone College wrestling team competed at the East Coast Duals hosted by Newberry College on Saturday. The Saints recorded one win and three losses against some of the top teams in the country. Limestone’s dual record stands at 11-5.
Limestone lost its first match of the day to No. 3 University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, 26-6. The Saints’
Matt Hall (Hamptonville, N.C.) picked up a 7-5 decision at 125 lbs., while
Landon Hall (Lousiville, Tenn.) won at 184 lbs.
The Saints went on to defeat Mercyhurst 19-15 in their second match of the day. Matt Hall got another win in the 125-pound weight class as a result of a forfeit.
Jeremy Parker (Winchester, Va.) recorded a 14-4 major decision at 141 lbs., and
Casey Bradley (Muncie, Ind.) also had a 9-1 major decision at 174 lbs. Landon Hall and
Michael Walsh (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) also recorded decisions at 184 lbs. and 197 lbs., respectively.
Shippensburg University edged Limestone 20-18 during the afternoon session. In the 133-pound weight class,
Mike Magaha (Seaford, Del.) won 4-0. Parker pinned his opponent and
Theran Goodale (Osage, Iowa) won 3-2 at 149 lbs.
Bryce Sopko (Riverview, Mich./165 lbs.) picked up an 11-7 decision while Landon Hall got another victory.
The Saints also lost to Kutztown 26-12. Parker, Goodale,
Mikel Bush (Lakewood, N.Y./165 lbs.), and Sopko recorded decisions in the loss.
