GAFFNEY, S.C.—The Limestone College women’s lacrosse team will be playing two pivotal regional contests in the next few days as the Saints host two Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference teams: Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Lock Haven University. Limestone, currently ranked No. 4 in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division II rankings, will host IUP on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Saints Field and will play the Eagles on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Saints (5-0 overall) head into these contests after knocking off now No. 9-ranked Gannon University 19-6 on February 28.

While the Crimson Hawks aren’t ranked in the national poll, they will be a challenging opponent coming out of one of the toughest lacrosse conference in the country as The PSAC leads all conferences with four schools in the latest IWLCA rankings: No. 3 Lock Haven, No. 5 Mercyhurst, No. 6 West Chester, and the No. 9 Golden Knights. IUP has a strong squad that defeated St. Andrews Presbyterian College 11-9 on Tuesday. The Saints are 2-0 all-time against the Crimson Hawks, and beat IUP 18-5 in the teams’ last meeting in 2003. Former Saints All-American Marissa Pesce will be on the sidelines during the game as an assistant coach with the Crimson Hawks.

Limestone is 5-4 all-time against Lock Haven and is 2-2 against the Eagles at Saints Field. LHU knocked the Saints out of the 2009 national tournament with a 13-12 victory in Salem, Va., during the NCAA semifinals in May. In their last meeting in Gaffney in March 2009, Limestone edged LHU 11-10.
