GAFFNEY, S.C. – Limestone College Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics
Mike Cerino announced today that a national search for a full-time coach for the men’s and women’s golf programs has been launched. The selected coach will replace
Doc Lemmons who has led the programs since 2003.
Chris Wiley has been named the interim coach for both programs.
During Lemmons’ tenure, the Saints women’s golf team would earn a pair of runner-up finishes in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference in 2004 and 2005. This past season the men’s team finished tied for eighth in the Conference Carolinas Championships while the women were fifth.
One of the oldest programs in the Saints’ athletic history, Limestone men’s golf has a rich and storied past with a 1984 NAIA Team National Championship, 1984 Individual National Championship, a 2008 trip to the NCAA Division II Regionals and multiple First-Team All-Americans while the women’s program has had 11 All-Conference and five All-Tournament selections in its relatively short history.
Limestone College is an NCAA Division II institution that sponsors 22 intercollegiate sports and is currently a member of Conference Carolinas, a group of 13 schools based in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
