Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center

Constructed in 1981 and officially opened in the Spring of 1982, the Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center has served as the home court for the men's tennis program since that time and the home venue for the women's program since its inception in 1994.

The facility features eight State-of-the-Art, lighted tennis courts, a spacious club house area that provides an area for players to congregate prior to matches and practices and also houses the coaching staff's offices. An open seating arrangement, including benches and bleachers, throughout the facility allows fans to get a different view of the matches throughout the contests.

During its 40 year history, the Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center has been the home court for a men's program that has made four NCAA Division II Tournament appearances (2009, 2010, 2013, 2019), won two Conference Carolinas Regular Season Championships (2012, 2019) and two Conference Carolinas Tournament Titles (2013, 2019). Meanwhile, the women's program has won three Conference Carolinas Regular Season Championships (2015, 2017, 2019).

The men's program has also produced three All-Americans (Nikhl Loganadan, Carlos Yanes and Rafael Ferla) during that time frame.

Combined, the men's and women's programs have produced 104 All-Conference selections, 38 All-Tournament choices, five Players-of-the-Year, six Coaches-of-the-Year, five Freshmen-of-the-Year and two Conference Carolinas Tournament Most Valuable Players that have called the Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center home. Of those All-Conference selections, 33 have been First-Team choices.

Named for longtime Limestone professor and coach Emmie Evans Rector, the tennis facility that bears her name underwent significant improvements in the fall of 2002. Those included the resurfacing of the courts, landscaping around the Center and enhancements to the pavilion itself. As such, the facility also features a plaque detailing her contributions to the University and Athletics Department as well as the generous benefactors that helped to make that project possible. That plaque reads:

"Named in honor of Emmie Evans Rector, Professor Emerita of Health and Physical Education and Education, for her distinguished service to Limestone College from 1958-90. Professor Rector's tremendous dedication and commitment were commendable as a coach, instructor and mentor. She touched the lives of many students in a positive and caring way, affording students the opportunity to excel in the classroom and athletic competition. The College is grateful to the following alumni and friends whose generosity made possible the resurfacing of the courts, enhancements to the pavilion and landscaping of the Center."
