WATCH: 2021 Limestone Athletics Virtual Awards Ceremony
GAFFNEY, S.C. – On Wednesday, June 9, the Limestone University Athletics Department hosted its annual awards ceremony to showcase many of the numerous accomplishments achieved during the unprecedented 2020-21 athletic year. For the second straight year, the ceremony was held virtually and will remain available for viewing on the
Limestone Athletics YouTube channel.
Despite facing unparalleled challenges due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Limestone completed its first year in the South Atlantic Conference with resounding success. This year's awards ceremony offers an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate both the resiliency and the success of Limestone Athletics and its 25 varsity sports teams comprised of roughly 800 student-athletes.
During the ceremony, head coaches of each team delivered final thoughts on their seasons and announced the winners of their team's respective Most Valuable Player awards. The Limestone Athletics Department also unveiled winners of numerous major awards to recognize exemplary student-athletes, staff, supporters and alumni.

MAJOR AWARDS
Les Gregory Citizenship Award
The Les Gregory Citizenship Award is given in memory of former athletic trainer, Les Gregory, and is award to a student-athlete that best resembles Les' character of honor, integrity, courage, and work ethic.
Winner: Britannie Ouimet, Women's Lacrosse
Tom Pettit Sportsmanship Award
The Tom Pettit Sportsmanship Award honors the memory of the great Tom Pettit, who was a tremendous supporter of Limestone Athletics. The award is given to a student-athlete or student trainer who best represents Limestone University Athletics in a sportsmanship-like manner during competition.
Winner: Reagan McCray, Women's Basketball
Caggiano Memorial Scholarship
The James Caggiano Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998 by Carol Caggiano to honor her late husband who was an avid supporter and trustee of Limestone. The scholarship is awarded to the student-athlete who exemplifies integrity, admirable character, and strong leadership. Nominees must have completed a minimum of 80 credit hours and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.

The "Officer Dave" Richardson Support Staff of Year
Named in honor of the late Officer Dave Richardson, the Officer Dave Richardson Support Staff of the Year Award winner is nominated by the Limestone Athletics Selection Committee and then voted on by Limestone head coaches. The award recognizes a staff member that shows tireless dedication to help our department run smoothly.
Winner: Josh Nelson, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Health/Head Athletic Trainer
Faculty Athletic Mentor of the Year
Presented to a team Faculty Athletic Representative who best represents their team in both the classroom and on the field. Faculty Athletic Representatives provide oversight of the academic integrity of the athletic department and serve as an advocate for student-athlete well-being with the faculty.
