Gaffney, SC- Limestone once again wasted no time to take possession into their hands, with Carson-Newman tending to drop into a low block defensively. It took the Saints until the 11th minute to break the deadlock. Graduate Student
Gregor Geru split two defenders with dribbling and cut the ball back to Claudel Ngoubou decoyed a shot and left the ball for Freshman
Kaiss Mansouri slotted the ball home from the edge of the box. 2 minutes later it was Geru and Ngoubou once more who set up Mansouri for the one-touch-finish into the top left corner.
The Saints slowed down a bit at the end of the First half,
Shunsuke Nakamoto,
Moritz Guettel, and
Geraldo Lopes had chances but were reeled in by the Carson-Newman keeper or deflected for a corner. The Eagles' only good chance of the game came in the 40th minute but Freshman Goalie
Nikolaj Bertelsen was there with the diving save on the shot from Mitchell Honcoop.
Limestone required some time to settle into the 2nd half, allowing an early Shot for the Eagles and not getting off one of their own until the 58th minute. A Corner Kick in the 68th minute gave the Saints the much-needed 3-0. Graduate Student
Stefan Roeb found the head of Senior
Falk Jorch for his first goal of the season. 4 minutes later the Saints capitalized again, as
Hugo Vien found the bottom right corner on a shot from distance. The icing on the cake came in the 81st minute when Guettel made the Goalkeeper miss and had his shot blocked on the goal line but Nakamoto was there to finish the rebound.
Highlights:
-Mansouri led the Saints with 2 goals, his first brace of the season
-Ngoubou assisted on both of Mansouri's goals
-Roeb added 2 Assists to his season tally.
