Gaffney, SC- Men's basketball opened the season in a battle to the end and fell short against #9 North Georgia in a Conference Challenge Crossover 87-76. Limestone led for most of the game however North Georgia's strong offense kept on the attack and came out ahead. Limestone falls to (0-1,
SAC 0-0) North Georgia improves to (3-0,0-0)
STORY OF THE GAME:
First Half
- Limestone was on the attack early and their strong offense was on full display.
- Isayah Owens helped the Saints throughout the first half causing trouble on the offense side of the ball.
- Ayden Hickman contributed as well to the offense, finding the opening in the paint and dishing the ball to his teammates.
- Limestone ended the first half with the lead 42-37.
Second Half
- North Georgia did not go down quietly and turned up their pressure on the defensive side of the ball.
- The Nighthawks went on the attack on offense they took the lead late in the game and did not give the lead back up.
- North Georgia went on to win 87-76.
Saints stats of the game:
- Isayah Owens led the team with 22 points, shooting 6-8 from the field and 7-8 from the free-throw line.
- Greg McKay contributed 14 points, with a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line.
- Ayden Hickman added 8 points in just 10 minutes of play.
- Trevon Payton was strong on the boards with 9 rebounds and also scored 6 points.
- Yaturi Bolton and Franklin Davis both scored 10 and 8 points respectively, with Bolton hitting 2 three-pointers.
