Gaffney, S.C.– Limestone's men's basketball faced LMU in a South Atlantic Conference weekday match up with the Railsplitters coming out on top 83-77. Limestone falls to a record of (3-5, SAC 0-4) as LMU improves on their season (5-1, SAC 3-0).

  • Sirr Hughes (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) was the standout player for Limestone with 28 points as he hit his career high.

STORY OF THE GAME:
First Half:
  • LMU went on a run in the first few minutes of the game as they went up 5-0.
  • Trevon Payton (Lilburn, Ga.) made a jumper to get things started for the Saints as he cut into the lead 5-2.
  • Railsplitters built their lead to 10 with a three-pointer from EJ Smith bringing the score to 16-6.
  • Yaturi Bolton (Goose Creek, S.C.) hit a three as the Saints cut into the seven-point lead LMU had built 16-9.
  • McKay pulled up on back-to-back jumpers, cutting the lead to 10 as the team was down 25-15.
  • LMU built their lead to 15 with a tip-in from Osmar Garcia-Araujo as they went up 32-17.
  • Limestone closed out the half with a layup made by Owens as they shrunk the lead down to five, bringing the score to 41-36.
Second Half:
  • LMU started the second half by hitting two free throws making the score 43-36.
  • The Railsplitters built their lead to 11 however, Hughes attacked the rim as the score was now 52-43.
  • Payton connected on a three from the wing as LMU was still ahead 66-57.
