Saints Capture 3 points in League Opener at #10 Coker

Men's soccer takes the win over Coker 1-0

Hartsville, SC- The Limestone University Men's Soccer team picked up a crucial 1-0 victory over #10 Coker in the first game of South Atlantic Conference play.

In what would prove to be a very defensive effort on both sides it wasn't until the 30th minute that Shunsuke Nakamoto provided the first shot of the contest.

It was also Nakamoto that then broke the stalemate in the 44th minute, with a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner. His shot was set-up by a combination in transition of Luke Alexander and Radoki, who ultimately found Nakamoto between the lines.

In the second half play slowed down with no more cautions being issued, and Limestone only posting 2 more shots. Coker's only real chance and with that their last shot of the day, came in the 57th minute when the Cobras hit the post on a volley from distance.

Limestone was able to see out the game and takes home 3 crucial points in their quest for the regular season.

Highlights:

-Sophomore Forward Shunsuke Nakamoto (Tokio, Japan) scored the Game winner for the Saints with his 1st goal of the season.

-Graduate forward Mark Radoki was credited with the assist on the lone goal of the day.

-Both team accounted for 5 shots, with Limestone putting 2 on frame to Coker's 1.

-Limestone was called for 21 Fouls, Coker for 17.

Limestone prepares for a massive week, as they travel to Florida on Monday to take on Florida Tech in a rematch of last year's Elite 8 match up on Tuesday, Sep. 17, before returning home for the Golden Game against Wingate on Saturday, Sep. 21.
