West Liberty, WV- In an impressive display of skill and determination, the Limestone football team, under the leadership of head coach
Jerricho Cotchery, secured their first win of the season against West Liberty with a final score of 48-13. The game, which took place in West Liberty, West Virginia, saw the Limestone team dominating from the very beginning.
The first quarter set the tone for the game, with Limestone scoring two quick touchdowns courtesy of quarterback
Dustin Noller. Noller connected with wide receiver
Jalen Jones for a 52-yard touchdown pass, followed by a 22-yard touchdown pass to
Tre Williams. The Limestone defense also came up big in the first quarter, shutting down the West Liberty offense and keeping them off the scoreboard.
The second quarter saw more of the same from the Limestone team, with running back
Kevin Lalin scoring a 2-yard rushing touchdown and Noller connecting with
DJ Black for a 32-yard touchdown pass. Despite a couple of field goals from West Liberty, Limestone maintained a commanding lead going into halftime.
In the second half, Limestone continued to showcase their talent, with
Nick Cunningham returning a kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown and Noller throwing his fourth touchdown pass of the game to Williams. The defense held strong, limiting West Liberty to only one touchdown in the third quarter.
Coach
Jerricho Cotchery, a former NFL wide receiver, was thrilled to secure his first career win as a head coach. "I couldn't be prouder of this team and the way they played today," Cotchery said after the game. "We have a lot of talent on this team, and I believe we have what it takes to be successful this season."
With this win, Limestone moves to a 1-0 record for the season, setting a positive tone for the games to come. The team will look to build on this momentum as they continue their season under the guidance of Coach Cotchery.
