Hiill ends the game with a double-double on the way to victory

Gaffney, S.C. — Limestone's women's basketball team showcased a dominant performance, defeating Emory & Henry 81-66 in a South Atlantic Conference matchup at the Timken Center. With this win, the Saints improve to 7-8 (3-8 SAC), while the Wasps drop to 5-12 (0-11 SAC). 

Key Players: 

  • Megan Watson (Spartanburg, S.C.) led the Saints with 19 points, shooting 5-of-11 from beyond the arc, while adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists. 

  • Graycie Poe (Bicknell, In.) was highly efficient, scoring 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range, while contributing 4 assists. 

  • Kalisha Hill (Saluda, S.C.) delivered a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds, along with 2 assists and a block. 

  • Reagan Kargo (Summerfield, N.C.) added 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, hitting 5-of-6 free throws. 

STORY OF THE GAME: 

First Quarter: 

  • Limestone came out firing, scoring 24 points in the opening quarter, while holding Emory & Henry to just 8 points. 

  • Watson and Poe led the charge, combining for three three-pointers. Poe's early accuracy from deep helped the Saints stretch their lead to double digits quickly. 

  • Hill controlled the boards, securing crucial defensive rebounds to limit the Wasps to one-and-done possessions. 

  • Emory & Henry struggled to keep pace, shooting just 36.4% from the field and committing multiple turnovers under pressure. 

Second Quarter: 

  • Emory & Henry began to find some rhythm offensively, scoring 16 points, but Limestone's lead remained firm thanks to their defensive intensity. 

  • Kargo stepped up with key free throws, converting 5-of-6 attempts in the quarter to keep Limestone ahead. 

  • Hill continued her dominance on the glass, adding offensive rebounds that led to second-chance opportunities for the Saints. 

  • Despite Emory & Henry's push, Limestone's consistency from beyond the arc and strong interior defense helped them take a 38-24 lead into halftime. 

Third Quarter: 

  • Limestone's offense caught fire again in the third quarter, with the Saints shooting 52.9% from the field and knocking down six three-pointers. 

  • Poe showcased her sharpshooting, hitting three triples in the period, including a momentum-shifting shot off a fast break. 

  • Watson added critical points, hitting two more threes as Limestone matched Emory & Henry's 23 points for the quarter. 

  • Emory & Henry's Gracyn Hall (12 points) and Lyndie Ramsey (15 points) tried to close the gap with timely scoring, but Limestone's offensive efficiency and Hill's defensive presence ensured the Saints stayed in control. 

Fourth Quarter: 

  • Emory & Henry pushed hard in the final quarter, led by Lyndie Ramsey, who scored 15 points on the night, and Gracyn Hall, who added 12. 

  • Limestone maintained their composure, responding to every Wasp run with timely baskets from Kargo and Watson. 

  • Hill capped her dominant performance with key rebounds and defensive stops, holding Emory & Henry to just four fast-break points in the game. 

  • The Saints' ability to convert turnovers into points (26 points off turnovers) and their consistent shooting sealed the win, finishing with an 81-66 victory.
