Gaffney S.C.-  Baseball dropped their season opener at home to Union 6-4. The Saints battled through the game but fell short at the end to a strong defensive team. Limestone start the season at 0-1, SAC 0-0, Union starts the season 1-0, GSC 0-0. 
Key Moments: 
Union set the pace early, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. However, the Saints demonstrated resilience by scoring a run to close the gap to 2-1 before the inning concluded, leaving a runner stranded on base.

The Bulldogs widened their lead in the third inning with a powerful hit down the left field line, adding two more runs to the scoreboard. This brought the score to 4-1 as the game moved into the bottom of the third inning.

For three innings, the game remained scoreless until the Bulldogs strung together a few hits in the seventh inning, adding another run and bringing their total hits to 11. By the end of the seventh inning, Union led 5-1.

The Saints' rally began in the bottom of the eighth inning when Winstone Parke ignited the offense with a triple. With no outs, Peter Adams capitalized on an opportunity, delivering a single up the middle that brought home Parke and Corey Hoderine, who had reached base after being hit by a pitch. 

Sion Barnette's sacrifice fly added another run for the Saints, closing the score to 5-4. Despite their determined efforts and a spirited performance throughout the game, Limestone ultimately fell short in the opening game of the three-game series, with a final score of 6-4.

Limestone's perseverance shone through, but they will need to regroup and strategize for the remaining games in the series.
