Boxscore 1 | Boxscore 2

Spartanburg, S.C.- The Limestone University Softball team traveled to Duncan, South Carolina, to open the season at the Valkyrie Classic. In Game 1, the Saints took on Glenville State, and in Game 2, they faced Converse University on January 31, 2025.

Game 1

The Limestone University softball team earned a hard-fought victory against Glenville State with a final score of 6-5.

The first two innings were a defensive battle, with both teams being scoreless.

Pitcher Chelsey Stonesifer was strong on the mound for Limestone, pitching a complete game. Stonesifer faced 35 batters, striking out four and walking four. The defense played a crucial role in the win, with strong performances from the entire team.

Offensively, Limestone was led by Olivia Veidt, who had three RBIs, two hits, and a home run. Emma King contributed with a key hit that drove in a run. King later closed out the game in the final inning with a single up the middle, bringing home Ragan Bristol for her second RBI of the game.

Game 2

In Game 2 of the Valkyrie Classic, the Saints took on the Converse University Valkyries. Limestone picked up right where they left off in Game 1.

Tayler Jenkins put the Saints on the board first with an unearned run off a passed ball. Converse responded in the bottom of the first with two runs of their own, taking a 2-1 lead on a single to right field.

Limestone's offense quickly responded to reclaim the lead. Thanks to a few errors by the Valkyries, Gracie Walker made her way home. The Saints weren't done yet—Callaway crossed home plate on a single by Allie Boone into right field, making the score 3-2.

Converse showed resilience at the bottom of the third. Charley Swartzel sent a ball into right-center for a double and later stole home off a wild pitch from Karly Gentry, tying the game 3-3.

Limestone's offense came out explosively, as Callaway and Veidt each hit home runs, bringing the score to 6-3. The Valkyries attempted a comeback, but the Saints' defense held strong, closing out the game with a final score of 6-5.

Up Next for Limestone

The Saints will return to action tomorrow, January 31, for a rematch against Converse in Game 3 of the Valkyrie Classic. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:15 PM.
