Softball Splits the Day with Converse and West Virginia Wesleyan

Spartanburg, S.C.- Softball ended their long weekend splitting day two of their challenge. The Saints dropped their first game 6-0 against a Converse team that came out firing, however, they came out with the bats swinging early in game two to take a 6-4 victory of West Virginia Wesleyan. Limestone heads into next week with a record of 3-1.
Game One Highlights:
The Limestone softball team faced a challenging game against Converse, ultimately falling 6-0. Despite their best efforts, Limestone couldn't overcome Converse's strong performance.
Converse struck first in the second inning with A. Branen grounding out to second base, allowing M. Davis to score and giving Converse an early lead. Limestone fought to keep the game close but couldn't capitalize on their opportunities.
In the sixth inning, Converse extended their lead. J. Gentile grounded out to shortstop, bringing A. Wells home. Shortly after, A. Branen singled to left field, scoring M. Monk. The decisive blow came when S. Watson doubled to right center, driving in three unearned runs, and solidifying Converse's lead.
Despite Limestone's efforts to mount a comeback, they were unable to score against Converse's solid defense and effective pitching.

Game Two Highlights:
In game two, the Limestone Saints emerged victorious in a thrilling contest against West Virginia Wesleyan, demonstrating their resilience and offensive prowess. The final score was 6-4 in favor of Limestone, reflecting a hard-fought battle on the field.
West Virginia Wesleyan initially took the lead in the first inning when E. Fournier singled up the middle, driving in A. Dizon. However, Limestone quickly responded in the second inning with a remarkable offensive display. Taylor Jenkins singled to left field, bringing in two unearned runs scored by Abbigail Heywood and Emma King. This was followed by Faith Callaway's triple to right field, driving in two more runs, and Ragan Bristol's single up the middle, adding another two unearned runs to Limestone's tally.
By the end of the second inning, Limestone held a commanding lead of 6-1, thanks to their aggressive base running and timely hitting. Despite a comeback attempt by West Virginia Wesleyan in the seventh inning, which included G. Arnold's double to left field driving in two runs and S. Carlin's ground out to shortstop adding another run, Limestone's early efforts secured their victory.
