Aiken, S.C. – The Limestone University Softball team hit the road for a doubleheader against USC Aiken on February 15, 2025. The Saints battled through a close first game to secure a 2-1 victory but struggled in the second game, falling 4-0.
Game 1 – Limestone 2, USC Aiken 1
The Saints took an early lead in a well-played defensive battle, defeating USC Aiken 2-1 in Game 1 of the doubleheader.
The scoring started in the second inning when Olivia Veidt (Wilmington, OH) came through with a clutch RBI double to bring home Ragan Bristol (Boiling Springs, S.C.), giving Limestone a 1-0 lead.
USC Aiken responded in the sixth inning with a solo home run, tying the game at 1-1. However, Limestone quickly regained the lead in the top of the seventh when Allie Boone (Irmo, S.C.) put the ball in play, allowing Bristol to cross home plate for what proved to be the game-winning run.
Pitcher Chelsey Stonesifer (Littlestown, Pa.) put together a dominant performance in the circle, throwing a complete game. She allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out five and walking two.
The Saints' defense played flawlessly, committing no errors and making several key outs to protect the lead. Skylar Page (Moncks Corner, S.C.) and Faith Callaway (Hemingway, S.C) each contributed strong defensive plays to keep USC Aiken off the scoreboard.
At the plate, Veidt, Page, and Bristol each recorded hits, with Veidt's RBI double proving to be one of the game's biggest moments.
Game 2 – USC Aiken 4, Limestone 0
The Saints struggled to generate offense in the second game of the doubleheader, falling 4-0 to USC Aiken.
Limestone was held to just three hits and struck out 15 times as USC Aiken's pitching kept them in check. Despite several hard-hit balls, the Saints were unable to break through, leaving six runners on base throughout the game.
