GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Limestone University baseball team faced a tough defeat against Lander University in a non-conference game on February 25, 2025. The Bearcats dominated the game, securing a 13-2 victory over the Saints at Dolny Stadium.
Lander took an early lead, scoring four runs in the first inning, including a three-run homer by Lopez, Jr. The Bearcats continued to build their lead with three more runs in the second inning, capitalizing on a series of hits and a fielding error by Limestone. By the end of the second inning, Lander was up 7-0.
Limestone managed to get on the scoreboard in the fourth inning with an RBI double by Justin Johnson, bringing the score to 7-1. However, Lander responded with another run in the fifth inning and a four-run seventh inning, extending their lead to 12-1. The Bearcats added one more run in the eighth inning, making it 13-1.
In the ninth inning, Limestone's Maddox Robinson singled to right field, driving in T. Hughes for the Saints' second run of the game. Despite their efforts, the Saints were unable to close the gap, ending the game with a final score of 13-2.
Lander's L. Johnson earned the win, improving his record to 2-1, while Limestone's Tyner Simpson took the loss, falling to 0-2. The game saw an attendance of 124 spectators who enjoyed the beautiful weather and competitive play.
