Gaffney, SC – February 28, 2025 – Limestone University's baseball team showcased a stellar performance in the opening game of their South Atlantic Conference series against Newberry, securing a decisive 9-0 victory at Founders FCU Stadium.
Limestone's offense was on fire from the start, with Sion Barnette and Zach Greenberg leading the charge. Barnette's RBI single in the first inning brought home Ethan Bonocore, setting the tone for the game. Greenberg followed with an RBI single, allowing Ben Partridge to score, giving Limestone an early 2-0 lead.
The second inning saw Barnette and Greenberg continue their offensive onslaught. Barnette's double to right field scored C. Hodierne, and Greenberg's single brought in two more runs, extending Limestone's lead to 5-0.
Limestone added another run in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly by Peter Adams, scoring Greenberg. The eighth inning sealed the victory with Barnette reaching on a fielder's choice, scoring Bonocore, and Cole Kirschner hitting a two-run homer.
Pitcher Colt Wilkins (3-1) earned the win, delivering a dominant performance on the mound, while Newberry's E. Lebron (3-1) took the loss.
