Gaffney, SC – The Limestone Saints baseball team secured a series victory against the Newberry Wolves, winning two out of three games in their South Atlantic Conference matchup. The series concluded with a doubleheader on March 1, 2025, at FCU Founders Stadium.
Game 1:Â
In the first game of the doubleheader, Limestone showcased their offensive prowess with a commanding 10-0 victory over Newberry. The Saints took an early lead in the first inning with a two-RBI double by Zach Greenberg, scoring S. Barnette and Ben Partridge. Limestone continued to build their lead with contributions from Ethan Bonocore, who had a standout performance with multiple RBIs throughout the game.
Pitcher Kemper Nix earned the win, improving his record to 2-2, while Newberry's H. French took the loss, falling to 1-3. The game concluded in just over two hours, with an attendance of 197 fans.
Game 2:Â
The second game saw Newberry bounce back with an 8-2 victory, thanks to a late-game surge. Limestone initially took the lead in the first inning with an RBI single by B. Partridge. Newberry tied the game in the third inning with an RBI single by P. Mergo and later took the lead in the sixth inning.
The decisive moment came in the eighth inning when Newberry scored six runs, highlighted by a three-RBI double from C. Mims. Newberry's pitcher, C. Cole, secured the win, improving his record to 4-1, while Limestone's Colby Humphries took the loss, marking his first of the season.
The doubleheader drew a combined attendance of 375 fans, who witnessed an exciting day of baseball.
