Tigerville, S.C. – The Limestone University Softball team traveled to Tigerville, South Carolina, for a doubleheader against North Greenville on March 1, 2025. The Saints showed offensive strength in Game 1 but struggled in Game 2, falling short in both contests.
Game 1 – North Greenville 13, Limestone 5
Limestone took control early in the third inning but was unable to hold off North Greenville's offensive surge, ultimately falling
13-5 in five innings.
The Saints exploded for
five runs in the third inning, fueled by
Faith Callaway, who crushed a
solo home run to put Limestone on the board. Shortly after,
Abbigail Heywood delivered a
bases-clearing double, driving in
three runs.
Emma Wrenn capped off the inning with an RBI single, bringing home
Emma King to give Limestone a
5-4 lead.
However, North Greenville responded quickly, scoring
three runs in the bottom of the third and adding
four more in the fifth, ultimately ending the game via the run-rule.
The Saints totaled
six hits but struggled defensively, committing
three errors, which led to unearned runs.
Despite some solid relief work from
Stone, Limestone's pitchers issued
six walks and three hit batters, allowing North Greenville to capitalize.
Game 2 – North Greenville 8, Limestone 0 (5 Innings)
Limestone struggled offensively in the second game of the doubleheader, falling
8-0 in five innings.
The Saints were held to just
two hits, coming from
Tayler Jenkins and Emma Wrenn. Limestone was unable to advance runners into scoring position, striking out
seven times and leaving
two runners on base.
North Greenville took control early, scoring in
four of the five innings, including a
home run in the first, a
triple in the second, and
two doubles later in the game to extend their lead.
Limestone's defense committed
two errors, allowing North Greenville to capitalize on extra opportunities.
