Limestone Women’s Basketball Drops Road Contest to LMU, Takes the #8 Seed in the SAC Playoffs!

Harrogate, Tn — The Limestone University Women's Basketball had a day to forget as they finished off the 2024-25 regular season with a 72-38 road loss to Lincoln Memorial University. The Saints had no answers on the offensive end after being down decisively early. The Railsplitters who were tied with Limestone before the contest, thereby earn the #7 Seed and will face Carson-Newman in the SAC Quarterfinals. The Saints meanwhile must live with the #8 Seed and get another shot at Conference Regular Season Champion Coker in the first round of the SAC tournament. With this loss, the Saints drop to 15-13 (11-13 SAC), while the Railsplitters improve to 13-14 (12-12 SAC).

Key Players:

  • Kalisha Hill (Saluda, S.C.) was just shy of Double-Double once more, with 9 points and 8 Rebounds on the day. Hill also had a block and 3 Steals.

  • Megan Watson (Tampa, Fla.) added 8 points and 4 Rebounds, as she accounted for 2 of the 3 Triples the Saints had on the night.

  • Dior Shelton (Bluffton, S.C.) boosted the Saints off the bench with 5 points, 6 Rebounds and a Steal and a Block each.

STORY OF THE GAME:

First Quarter:

  • Limestone stayed on par with Lincoln Memorial for the first 5 minutes of the game, led by a steady defense. Hill had all 4 points for the Saints when the match was tied with about 5 to go in the 1st quarter.

  • The rest of the quarter was all in the hands of the home side, as they scored 15 points in the next four minutes. Only Poe had two answers on Jump Shots, Limestone trailed 8-19 after the first 10 minutes.

Second Quarter:

  • The 2nd quarter would prove to be even worse offensively for the visitors. Only 7 points would fall in the quarter, 4 on Free Throws and 3 on a shot behind the arc from Watson.

  • LMU felt the hot hand from deep and went out to a 39-15 lead at the intermission.

Third Quarter:

  • The 3rd quarter ended up as the Saints best and only double-digit scoring period. Kargo had a Corner-3 fall early, while Shelton and Hill had 4 points each in the quarter.

  • The lead stayed somewhat consistent in the 20s, swaying up and down a little and ending with a 57-31 advantage for the Railsplitters.

Fourth Quarter:

  • Watson opened the 4th quarter with a quick 3, but LMU went on yet another run, pushing the lead to over 30 and taking all the life out of the contest.

  • Poe and Kargo had another bucket each, but that was the last word for the Saints as LMU saw out the game with the 72-38 decision.

Up Next:

Limestone will reset their minds and hope for a positive reaction, as they look forward to their return to the South Atlantic Conference Quarterfinals against Coker University. The Saints are still looking for revenge after two tightly-contested losses against the Cobras in the regular season. The two teams will meet midway in Rock Hill, S.C. at 5 pm on Tuesday, March 4th.
