Gaffney, S.C. – The Limestone University Baseball team faced a formidable challenge at home, hosting Carson-Newman in a doubleheader on March 15, 2025. Despite their determined efforts and moments of brilliance, the Saints fell short in both games, battling hard against Carson-Newman's strong offense.
Game 1 – Carson-Newman 5, Limestone 3
Limestone fought hard in the opening game but couldn't hold off Carson-Newman's consistent scoring. The game saw Carson-Newman take an early lead in the third inning with a solo home run by B. Smith and an RBI single by S. Williams, making it 2-0.
Limestone responded in the bottom of the third when B. Partridge singled to drive in P. Adams, cutting the deficit to 2-1. However, Carson-Newman extended their lead in the fourth inning with an RBI single by A. Gibson and added two more runs in the fifth inning with hits from L. Floyd and C. Nathan, bringing the score to 5-1.
The Saints managed to score one more run in the ninth inning with an RBI single by B. Partridge, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. Despite collecting nine hits, Limestone left key runners stranded late in the game.
Game 2 – Carson-Newman 5, Limestone 1
In the second game, Carson-Newman once again took control early, scoring two runs in the third inning and adding another in the fourth. Limestone's only run came in the third inning when B. Partridge singled to drive in W. Parke, making it 2-1.
Carson-Newman continued to build their lead with two more runs in the fifth inning, securing a 5-1 victory. K. Casson pitched a complete game for Carson-Newman, allowing only one run on four hits and striking out two batters.
Limestone's pitching staff battled throughout the game, but early runs by Carson-Newman proved too much to overcome.
