Gaffney, S.C. – The Limestone University Softball team hosted Mars Hill for a doubleheader on March 18, 2025, at Jimmy Martin Field. The Saints secured a close victory in Game 1 but struggled to generate offense in Game 2, splitting the series.
Game 1 – Limestone 3, Mars Hill 1
Limestone took control early and held off a late push by Mars Hill to secure a 3-1 victory in the opening game.
The Saints wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the first inning on an RBI single by Tayler Jenkins, bringing home Emma King for the game's first run.
In the second inning, Limestone extended its lead as Madilyn Gerovac delivered a key hit to bring in another run, followed by an RBI single from Olivia Veidt, making it 3-0.
Mars Hill attempted to rally in the seventh, managing to scratch across a run, but Limestone's defense held strong to secure the win.
The Saints collected five hits in the game and played error-free defense to support their pitching staff.
Stonesifer was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete game, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out two.
Game 2 – Mars Hill 2, Limestone 0
Limestone struggled offensively in the second game of the doubleheader, getting shut out 2-0 by Mars Hill.
Mars Hill struck early, scoring two runs in the first inning, and their pitching staff took control from there. Despite several base runners, Limestone was unable to push across any runs.
Limestone managed just three hits in the game and left five runners on base.
Clayton battled but gave up two early runs, while Turgeon came in for three shutout innings of relief, but Limestone's offense couldn't find a way to respond.
