Gaffney, S.C. – After being shut out in the opening game, the Limestone University Softball team bounced back in Game 2 of its doubleheader against Anderson (S.C.) on March 29, 2025. Fueled by a five-run third inning, the Saints earned a 7-4 win to close out the day with a split.
Game 1 – Anderson (S.C.) 3, Limestone 0
Limestone matched Anderson through the early innings, but a pair of solo home runs and timely sacrifice hitting proved the difference as the Saints were held scoreless despite tallying six hits.
Anderson broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with a solo shot by
L. Brakovec and added insurance in the fifth on a sacrifice fly and again in the sixth with Brakovec's second homer of the game.
The Saints threatened early in the bottom of the first as
Tayler Jenkins reached on a walk and advanced to third, but she was caught in a rundown at home on a steal attempt. Despite solid contact throughout the game, Limestone stranded
six runners on base, including two in both the second and fifth innings.
Limestone's bats produced
six hits, but they were unable to string together consecutive offense to convert runs.
Stonesifer pitched well despite the loss, working a complete game while limiting Anderson to just three runs.
Game 2 – Limestone 7, Anderson (S.C.) 4
Limestone's offense came alive in Game 2, using a big third inning and timely hits throughout to power past Anderson.
The Saints opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when
Tayler Jenkins led off with a double and came around to score on a groundout.
In the third, Limestone exploded for five runs.
Emma King delivered a clutch two-run double to break the game open, and
Ragan Bristol followed with a two-RBI single to stretch the lead to 6-1.
Limestone tacked on an insurance run in the fourth inning, and while Anderson added one run in the seventh, the Saints' defense held firm to secure the win.
The Saints totaled
eight hits, including
four doubles, and took advantage of Anderson's defensive miscues and walks.
Stonesifer pitched a complete game, working through traffic on the bases but delivering timely outs, especially in the late innings.
