GAFFNEY, S.C. – In an exhilarating game at FCU Founders Stadium, the Limestone University baseball team clinched a dramatic 5-4 walk-off victory against Belmont Abbey. The Saints showcased their resilience, scoring the winning run at the bottom of the ninth inning.
The game began with a strong start for Limestone, as Ethan Bonocore scored on a single by Sion Barnette in the first inning. Zach Greenberg followed with a two-RBI single, bringing home Ben Partridge and Adams Faucett. Peter Adams then singled to right field, allowing Tyler Hughesman to advance to third and Cole Kirschner to score, giving Limestone a 4-0 lead.
Belmont Abbey responded in the second inning with an RBI groundout by C. Powell, scoring J. Boyles. The Crusaders continued to chip away at Limestone's lead in the sixth inning, with T. Velotta's two-RBI single bringing the score to 4-3. Belmont Abbey tied the game in the eighth inning when J. Risk doubled to center field, scoring J. Whitaker.
In the bottom of the ninth, Limestone's Winston Parke scored the winning run on a bases-loaded walk by Sion Barnette, securing the 5-4 victory for the Saints. Colby Humphries earned the win for Limestone, while T. Paxton took the loss for Belmont Abbey.
