Boxscore Gaffney, S.C. – The Limestone University baseball team put up a spirited fight at home but ultimately came up short in a high-scoring battle, falling 13-10 to Emmanuel (Ga.) on Tuesday afternoon. Despite a seven-run rally in the fourth inning and a late push, the Saints were unable to overcome the Lions' powerful offensive performance.
Key Moments:
After falling behind 7-0 through the first four innings—highlighted by back-to-back home runs from Emmanuel's B. Wollin and L. Mokris—Limestone mounted an electric comeback in the bottom of the fourth. The Saints strung together hits and capitalized on mistakes to score seven runs and tie the game at 7-7. A. Faucett drove in two runs with a single, P. Adams and B. Partridge added RBIs, and smart baserunning gave the Saints momentum.
Limestone added two more runs in the fifth behind a two-RBI single from Partridge, taking a 9-8 lead. However, Emmanuel responded with five runs over the next three innings, powered by a third home run from Wollin, and RBI doubles from J. Cruz and Mokris, retaking a 13-9 advantage.
The Saints made one final push in the bottom of the eighth with a sacrifice fly from T. Hughesman to trim the lead to three, but were held scoreless in the ninth as Emmanuel closed out the win.
Up Next:
The Saints will look to regroup as they return to conference play on Friday, April 25, when the host UVA Wise to close out the regular season.
