SALISBURY, N.C. – The Limestone University baseball team fought valiantly in its final game of the 2025 season but ultimately fell Catawba, 8-3, in an elimination contest of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament on Sunday evening at Newman Park. Despite a second-inning rally that tied the game, the Saints couldn't overcome the Indians' early offensive surge.
Key Moments:
After Catawba struck first with a three-run inning in the bottom of the first, the Saints wasted no time responding. In the top of the second, Limestone's senior leadership sparked a comeback.
A. Faucett and
P. Adams worked back-to-back walks before
Winston Parke ripped an RBI single to left-center to get Limestone on the board. Moments later,
Corey Hodierne came through with a clutch two-out single up the middle, driving in two more runs to even the score at 3-3.
That momentum, however, was short-lived. Catawba reclaimed the lead in the third and added insurance runs in the fourth and sixth, taking advantage of timely hits and a defensive miscue. The Saints continued to battle, putting runners on in the fifth and seventh innings, but couldn't push any more runs across.
Ben Partridge, who capped off a stellar season at the plate, continued to lead the offense with a 2-for-4 effort, including a double.
Zach Greenberg and
Peter Adams also reached base, while
Hodierne turned in one of his best performances of the year, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
On the mound, Limestone utilized five pitchers to navigate a deep Catawba lineup.
Ben Catrambone was charged with the loss, while
Colby Humphries and
Wyatt Stone turned in scoreless frames to finish the night.
Limestone wraps up the 2025 season with a 27-25 record, marking back-to-back winning seasons and a hard-earned appearance in the SAC Tournament. The Saints displayed resilience and pride through the final pitch and will look to build on that foundation next year.
