About the President's Cup

Introduced in 2013, the President's Cup is awarded each year at the beginning of the upcoming school year to the athletic programs that best supports the Division II model of balancing academic excellence, athletics achievement, and community engagement during the previous term.  Limestone strives to provide a healthy environment that leads to the student-athletes total personal development.

The goal of the program is to strive for collective excellence. If we collectively give a Championship Effort everyday, the desired lofty academic and athletic results wll be achieved in the Conference Carolina's Joby Hawn Cup competition.

You can click on each individual category for a full breakdown of how points are assigned.

Scoring Criteria

Each team is scored in the following 5 categories:
  • Point Breakdown

As coaches and administrators we need to ensure that ALL student athletes will have an opportunity to graduate from Limestone University. All student-athletes are to successfully earn at least 6 semester hours in the previous regular academic term of full-time enrollment to be eligible to compete in the next regular academic term. All student-athletes must maintain a grade point average that places the student in good academic standing with the college and the NCAA required cumulative grade point average (based on a 4.00 scale).

  • Point Breakdown

We strive to be a top level Division II athletic program. Being that we are fully vested in athletic excellence through budgets, athletic support and scholarships, we as administrators feel that each team should finish in the top half of the conference standings.

  • Point Breakdown

This category compiles points from Strength & Conditioning, Athletic Training, Facilities, Equipment Room, Sports Information and Athletic Marketing and Fundraising.

  • Point Breakdown

To ensure that the Limestone Athletic program operates in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA, the Conference Carolinas, and Limestone College. The Compliance office is committed to educating every member within athletics of the rules and regulations provided by the NCAA, in an effort to prevent even the minor infractions. In the case of a by-law violation, the compliance office will aim to identify, evaluate, and report the violation to the NCAA.

  • Point Breakdown

Limestone College has had a proud tradition of volunteering within the community, and we have renewed that commitment with the Limestone Cares initiative. With this program the college and the athletic department aim to bringing the college and community closer. As part of the President Cup we want to recognize and honor our student-athlete volunteers for setting a standard of service, encouraging a sustained commitment to civic participation and inspiring others to make service a central part of the student-athlete experience.

  • Point Breakdown

These are games the head coaches have chosen as being the most important for their program. We increase the point totals for these games and to see the biggest return with the increased point values.  With this program we hope to engage all Limestone Saints fan, student-athletes, and coaches. Each sport pick one-third of their home games and designate them as Golden Games Rewards games.  We want to boost our attendance at all 25 of our sports and build awareness to boost attendance and feed the enthusiasm for our programs into other sports.
