Matt Padgett is an Assistant Coach with the Limestone baseball program. His primary responsibilities in working with outfielders, first basemen, and hitting, beginning his tenure in the 2023-2024 season.
Padgett played collegiate baseball and football at Clemson University and was a fifth-round pick by the Florida Marlins in 1998. He had an impressive 18-year playing career, which included stints with the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs organizations. Overall, Padgett has spent 20 years in professional baseball, serving as a hitting coach/player development specialist for one year and a manager for another.
In addition to his professional career, Padgett has valuable coaching experience at the high school level. He served as the head coach at Ben Lippen School for two years, leading the team to two state finals.
Most recently, Padgett was an assistant coach at Columbia International University, where he helped lead the team to the 2021 NCCAA National Championship title. He also brought his expertise to the summer collegiate baseball scene as the manager/coach of the Lexington County Blowfish (2019-2020) in the Coastal Plains League and the New Jersey Jackals in the independent Frontier League.
Now in his second year at Limestone, Padgett has taken on the role of Recruiting Coordinator and has overseen significant improvements in the team's hitting statistics in every category.
Moreover, Padgett is a proud Lexington High School (SC) graduate.
